SHAAREI CHESED was founded in 1987 to provide financial and moral support to families stricken with trauma from major blows such as severe illness or death. Those who have been helped include orphans and families with medical problems - economically disadvantaged families who find themselves in an even more difficult situation due to additional, unforeseen problems.
Through its assistance provided to people in difficult predicaments, the organization became steadily aware of many psychological problems that afflicted these unfortunate victims. Consequently in December 1999 the Operation S.H.A.R.E. (Speak out your Heart and Receive Encouragement), project was opened to deal with these additional psychological issues. Operation S.H.A.R.E. has helped many people who had been non-functioning or in psychological agony.

It provides counseling in Israel to teenagers and adults for a ariety of psychological problems, both major and minor. In light of the financial situation in Israel, a minimal fee is charged for the counseling services. However there are many suffering people who cannot even afford to pay this fee and they are not treated. Consequently, at this point SHAAREI CHESED is channeling its major funds for the Operation S.H.A.R.E. project.
PROGRAMS & SERVICES
In Israel today there is ever-present tension from the threat of terrorist attacks and bombings and from the realities of often-difficult financial situations. As a result, many people live on the verge of emotional collapse that is sometimes triggered by a seemingly insignificant event. Operation S.H.A.R.E. has assisted many teenagers and adults who had previously been non-functioning or in psychological agony by its professional, patient counseling services. |

Services include referrals to psychiatrists and gentle persuasion to begin medical treatment when necessary; in many cases the patient is personally escorted to these visits. Treatment also includes telephone conversations with clients, as well as conversations with family members (with the permission of the clients) in order to enlist their cooperation towards the clients' successful recovery.
Desperate calls are often received from people who have found our name from the phone book and other reference books. These initial calls with a patient have often prevented terrible calamities and the callers are often referred to other organizations or invited to come to the office for counseling. A hot-line service is in the process of being organized to accept phone calls at all hours.
Besides offering counseling services in the office, when necessary “house-calls” are made to serious cases who cannot or will not come to the clinic. This includes visits to private homes, jails and mental institutions, as necessary.

Because our goal is to assist as many people as possible, we are in dire need of financial assistance to enable us to subsidize additional clients and services. The great influence that we have made on many people's lives until now is possible because of partners that share our goal. Group and individual donations enable us to further our commitment to serve the distressed public in Israel.
You are invited to join the compassionate donators that have helped change needy patients' lives. For $5,000 you can subsidize the annual counseling and medical treatment for one patient who could otherwise not afford it, with the dire consequences thereof.
